So you want to know the best time to post on social media? You are not alone! There is certainly a strategy behind posting on social media at certain times to get more exposure. There is also the common sense. For example, you won’t get as much exposure if you post at 2 a.m. There are better times of the day to post content and each social media platform is different. With that being said, take a look at the best times to post for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram below…

TWITTER

Twitter is the platform that allows your posts to be short, sweet and to the point. When it comes to the best times to post, it has been determined that 3 p.m. Monday to Friday is the ideal time. For example, the Huffington Post believes that 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 12 p.m., are the best times for Retweets, while 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. also deliver higher click-through rates.

Here are a few additional things to consider as you continue to determine the best time to post:

  1. Using the right tool. There are countless tools on the market to help you schedule the best time to Tweet, such as Hootsuite’s AutoSchedule which determines the best time based on when your previous Tweets have performed the best.
  1. Know who your audience is. Very important. Is your audience younger? Older? A younger audience will likely be on social media more frequently. While an older audience most likely won’t be.

FACEBOOK

Facebook can be tricky due to the ever-changing algorithms and what not. However, in the ambiguity of it, there has been a few days and times that have proven to be better for posting then others.

For Facebook, it’s been said that between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. And on Saturday and Sunday between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m is best.  There is a tendency of lower engagement on the weekend, but there a click-through rate on posts published between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

INSTAGRAM

So, you think Instagram is just a platform to post pics anytime, insert a few trending hashtags and hope to become Insta-famous, right? Well, sadly, that’s not exactly how it works. It’s been proven that there is a better time to post on Instagram, and that time is from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday. Why does this time seem to attract the most Instagrammers? Well, it’s lunch hour!

“There’s no doubt our community scrolls through Instagram during their lunch hour,” Hootsuite social media marketing specialist Amanda Wood explains. “We find that time also works best on the weekends, but since we are a B2B business, our Instagram strategy is weekday-focused.”

So, if you’re hoping to get some serious exposure on IG, during any typical lunch hour will be your best bet.
